Basic Information On Organic Beef And Pork

By Cynthia White

These days everyone is jumping on the healthy bandwagon. Everybody is going for a lifestyle change either by exercising more, or being more active and also eating a lot much healthier. Eating healthier means staying away from processed foods and eating more natural. One of these more natural foods to try out if you want to be healthier are organic beef and pork, which I made from grass fed cows and pigs, which are usually kept free range.

One definitely noticeable fact about organic food is their price. They are priced much higher than regular processed food, and sometimes almost up to twice as much. Most people will be turned off by the high price and so they will not even think twice about buying or trying it out. However it is because they have not been informed of the benefits and the value of such organic food. This article will cover such benefits so do read on.

Overall, these meats have very low fat content. This is because they are mostly grass fed which will lead to an overall higher lean meat content. Regular cattle and pigs, which are raised on industrial farms are usually fed fatteners and such to earn more money for the raisers. Lesser fat means lesser problems for you if you are watching your weight and cholesterol.

Since these kind of meats have low fat content, in turn it will also have very low caloric content. Thus if you are watching your caloric intake these meats are also good for you. The advantage is definitely obvious, since it has low calories, you can eat larger portions and still control your intake all in all.

Higher levels of omega 3 also exist in organics compared to non organic foods. It also does contain more vitamins and antioxidants. This means you will have more energy, be much healthier, and also age a lot slower also.

These meats also have a richer flavor, or simply put, they are more yummier. This is because they have higher iodine content due to their being grass fed and raised on free range farms. Industrial swine and cattle herds are usually given feeds that have low iodine content, up to as much seventy five per cent lesser than natural feeds. If you consider iodine as some kind of salt, then you know that salt is what gives food flavor most of the time. This of course does not mean that the more iodine there is it will become more salty, it just becomes more flavorful.

These meats also have no gluten and thus will be good for those who fear the onset of celiac disease. As it will have no gluten, there will be less irritants for those with gluten sensitive colons. Less gluten also means that it will be that much easier to digest and so you will be less prone to constipation also.

These meats are also free from antibiotics. Regular meat animals are raised by being given a lot of antibiotics to keep them from disease. Unfortunately these same drugs can also be ingested by the end use. Thus if you eat organic, you will also avoid these medicines which can make you sick also. In sum, you cannot go with eating organic, as it is way healthier in the long run.
