Opting For Breakfast Catering: An Inexpensive Choice

By James Kennedy

Lunch and dinnertime may not always be the very best time to meet with friends, classmates, co-workers, or club members. Earlier in the day may be a better time for just about everyone to enjoy breakfast catering. The demands and duties of the day will not have yet set in. A morning gathering complete with foods and beverages can be a wonderful start to a great day.

There are many advantages to having a morning meeting catered. This type of food is usually not very expensive compared to a lunch or dinner. All the ingredients are basic and inexpensive and can be the basis for an extraordinary meal. These food items are also simple to prepare and serve on a buffet or as a plated meal.

Beverages served could include, of course, coffee. Flavored syrups and creams and a variety of sweeteners would all be delightful additions. Other tasty choices could be a variety of juices, smoothies, and a collection of hot teas from around the world. Make self-service easy by having everything on an easily-accessed table with all of the appropriate cups, spoons, napkins, and glassware.

The type of entree items would definitely depend on the service type used. If a plated meal is chosen, all attendees would eat at the same time. The meal could be a simple as spinach and mushroom quiche with a broiled tomato parmesan or a ham and Swiss omelet with fried potatoes. Waffles with sausage patties and scrambled eggs would also be very welcomed as would a casserole made with eggs, bread, sausage, and cheese. Re-fill beverages throughout the meal so everyone gets plenty of coffee, juice, and hot tea.

A buffet is also a great option, especially if guests are just going to filter in at different times. This buffet can be as casual or as elegant as you would like it to be. A continental breakfast would consist of danish, fresh fruit, juices, and coffee. An ordinary hot buffet can have scrambled eggs, sausage and bacon, hash browned potatoes, and croissants or biscuits. A truly elegant buffet may consist of carved ham, salmon and mini bagels, deviled eggs, a fresh fruit display, and a great selection of French pastries.

A quick and easy type of a catered morning meal could be a boxed breakfast. Typical items that you would find in such an offering could include sandwiches consisting of a biscuit, egg, and a type of meat or breakfast tacos, a piece of fruit such as an orange, peach, or pear, and a boxed or bottled juice. Coffee could be offered on the side.

Your meal could even have a theme. You could serve plates of Mexican migas, scrambled eggs with crumbled tortilla chips, re-fried beans, and fried potatoes. A holiday plate could consist of omelettes with red and green peppers and a broiled tomato. A New Year's buffet could feature champagne and black-eyed peas.

So when you are considering another meeting for work, church, or a club you belong to, consider making it an early morning gathering. Everyone will be fresh and ready to take on the world. The food and drinks served will get everyone off to a great start and provide the impetus to get through your daily agenda with ease.
