Make Your Own Tasty Celiac Bagels

By Mary Edwards

When all your treats have to be gluten free, sometimes it's not easy to find something to enjoy in. Something that is easy to prepare, that isn't expensive and doesn't take too much time to make. Well, these lovely snacks are something that you will just love, and can be done in maybe one hour, with only a few basic, cheap ingredients. And you will simply love the result.

Start with warming up two cups of water. Add two tablespoons sugar and the same quantity of dry yeast, together with two cups of gluten free flour. Mix well and leave this mixture on warm place for a few minutes. In the meantime, combine three cups flour, gluten free, of course, with two teaspoons salt, and add it to your mixture. Now you have a dough for preparing your tasty celiac bagels.

If necessary, add some flour to get smooth dough. Cover the dough with a cloth and leave it to stand for ten minutes to rise slightly. Divide the batter into 12 parts. Of each part mold a roller and connect the ends to get the shape of the ring. Cover those dough rings with the cloth for another ten minutes or so, to rise again.

In the meantime, bring water with a spoon or two of oil to boil. Cook each dough ring in simmering water for maybe forty seconds, two or three at once. Once cooked, they should be placed on a piece of paper towel or cloth, to dry. After that, place them on greased baking sheet and bake in your oven for maybe 15 to 20 minutes. The oven should be preheated.

In many recipes you will find that people immediately mix the salt together with flour, yeast and sugar. When it comes to raised dough, sugar accelerates the action of yeast, and the salt slows it down. It is therefore better to mix the salt in later, when the yeast is already in action. This will speed up preparation, and your dough will rise much faster.

Of course, with a little bit of whipped egg whites and sprinkles your bagels will look and taste even better. Just use your imagination, and add whatever you want on the top, before baking them, for example sesame or simply sugar. Serve these lovely bites with different spreads, for example peanut butter, or make your own interesting spreads.

If you enjoy making your own spreads, here is one simple but tasty idea. Mix together a little bit of fresh garlic, cream cheese, salt and a pinch of chili powder, to make one hot and exciting spread you will enjoy in. If you combine fresh cheese, whipped cream with a little bit of sugar and fresh fruits, this will become one luxuriously tasty bagel. Or simply add dry cranberries in your cream cheese and enjoy.

In any case, with peanut butter and marmalade you simply cannot make a mistake. On the other hand, these tasty little bagels are just delicious as they are, without anything. But, making them even tastier is always a good idea. So, give your imagination a chance and combine different spreads, chocolate, fruits and spices, enjoy your life and enjoy in these lovely treats.
