By Virginia Morris

Brunch is the term used to refer to a meal eaten during late morning. The meal usually combines lunch and breakfast eaten together. The timing varies widely with some people eating is as late as 3 PM in the afternoon. Taking a brunch in Colorado is one of the most exciting eating experiences one can hope for. There are many facilities in this location where these meals are served to a wide range of people.

People started practicing eating brunch a long time ago. The coining of the term occurred in 1895 in Britain. It was intended to describe a Sunday meal that was eaten by Saturday-night carousers. An article describing this meal first appeared in an article written by Guy Beringer in Hunters Weekly magazine. Frank OMalley has also been credited with writing another article too describe the same meal.

These meals are mostly served in hotels and restaurants. Other places that serve brunches include colleges, military dining facilities, and hostels. Sundays and holidays are the customary days for brunches in most colleges and hostels. However, brunches may also be served on any other day. Serving is done in the form of buffets or menu-ordered meals. Sometimes, both self-service buffets and menu-ordered meals are provided together in the same facility.

Several factors determine the kind of foods included in brunches. Some of the major foods included are sausages, ham, eggs, fruits, pancakes, bacon, and pastries. Most people begin by taking light foods like drinks and snacks. After that, they go ahead to take heavier foods which represent luncheons. Deserts or similar meals come at the conclusion.

Military dining facilities in Colorado also serve brunches to people. Meals served are very variable. Both lunch and breakfast options of the brunches are available. The time at which the meals are served vary a lot. Generally, however, military dining facilities in Colorado serve their meals from mid mornings to mid-afternoons.

Dim sum brunches are served in all Chinese restaurants globally. These brunches consist of various sweet and savory food items such as stuffed buns and dumblings. The foods may be deep-fried, steamed, or baked. Carts are passed in the hotel with foods for people to pick whatever they want in small quantities. Chefs in the kitchen continuously produce more fresh food to be moved around on carts. People eat dim sum brunches in during middays, mid-afternoons, or mid-mornings.

Restaurants and hotels in Colorado often prepare and serve brunches during special occasions such as Easter Sundays, weddings, Valentine Day, and Mothers Days among others. During such occasions, members of the public are allowed to have meals of their choosing. The prices for the various meals may be fixed or they may vary with the meal.

What makes brunches distinct from other meals is the sheer number of food items served and the timing. Each food item included into the meal should be analyzed for nutritional content to make it valuable. When taken later in the day, most people do not need to take another heavy meal in the evening before going to bed. Often a snack suffices.
