Facts About Halal Certified Meals

By Stephanie Gray

This kind of certification on foods is done for the Muslim community. This is because these people should eat only the foods that contain the acceptable ingredients. To ensure that the foods that are consumed do not contain ingredients that are haram, this certification is done. This has however raised eyebrows in some countries. There are some activists that are telling their consumers to boycott all lawfully approved products. Still and all, this practice is very important in the Muslim community. Find out more about Halal certified meals below.

Muslims choose the Halal food because the approved meals meet the requirements that make them suitable for their consumption. These rules originate from their Holy Book that prohibits them from taking foods that are unclean. These rules have thus been followed throughout the many generations of the Islamic practices. This is a part of the Sharia system. The Sharia is a system of morals that are used to guide the actions and behaviors of Muslims.

Nevertheless, this remains to be a debatable topic. There are so many people that do not agree with the Sharia system while many more others see no problem with it. A good example is stunning meat. Some ask whether the animal becomes clean when it is stunned before or after being slaughtered. This has raised a topic of debate and people have so many different opinions on the same.

There are three ways that the food is checked or tested and approved. The initial step is inspecting and approving individual products. When this is done, the ingredients as well as process used to produce that particular food becomes clean. This means that you can buy clean and approved items from stores that also sell items that have not been approved.

The second form of certification involves the production facilities. Therefore, all the products that are produced in line with the certification standards can be considered to be lawful and clean. For instance, if butchery has been certified, the meat becomes lawful no matter the final shape. Nevertheless, the meat may end up in the market unlabelled. Thirdly, the retail facilities can also be approved. This makes all the foods in those facilities lawful.

Certification of the foods is critical because the Muslim consumers can decide what to buy. Most food items are now being processed. Without proper labeling, the consumers may never be able to tell the difference between approved and unapproved foods. The certification process is therefore critical.

Another reason for this certification is involved with trade. Since the trade of food is growing, it can become very profitable to trade lawful or approved food. The Muslims have provided a very lucrative opportunity for the companies that are making approved foods. This can brig very good returns.

These foods can be certified either by local businesses or imported foods that have been certified abroad. Nevertheless, Australia carries the most certifiers. There are Islamic organizations that have partnered with the Department of Agriculture that certifies the food that needs to be imported. Therefore, you will find so many certifiers in Australia.
